The “My Life” era was iconic for many reasons, from the fashion, beauty looks and the vibes&#8230;but it was the music that made it an instant classic!</p>

Blige officially released her sophomore album “My Life”—and once you pressed “play” you instantly knew that it was something special. Having already achieved enormous success with her debut album “What’s The 411?” Mary upped the stakes and completely changed the R&;B game forever with “My Life.” Featuring a collection of songs that perfectly mirrored what she was going through in her life at that point—drug use, abusive relationships, depression, broken heart—the album touched fans on various levels.</p>

<p>It’s often said that every artist has a defining body of work and if that’s true, “My Life” is definitely Mary’s. Executive produced by Sean “Diddy” Combs and featuring a host of some of the hottest producers of the day, including Chucky Thompson, Dalvin Degrate, Herb Middleton and Prince Charles Alexander. The album went triple platinum, was nominated for a Grammy and crowned the top-selling R&;B album of 1995.</p>
<p>Singles like the lead track “Be Happy,” the Rose Royce cover “I’m Goin’ Down” and the Barry White-sampled “You Bring Me Joy” were just a few of the reasons why the album is still in rotation today. However, its perhaps the title track “My Life” that resonates most with fans. Mary literally pours her heart and soul out on the song—and you feel each and every word.</p>
