Matt Barnes Launches Scholarship Fund For Stephon Clark’s Sons

Matt Barnes is out here doing some amazing things #Roommates! The Ex-NBA player announced that he would be launching a scholarship fund for Stephon Clarks two sons to make sure that they can afford to go to college.

According to the Huff Post, Matt spoke at a rally in Sacramento on Saturday. He talked about his fears of being a father with two boys, while holding Stephons son in his arms.

I have two 9-year-old boys, just like this and I fear for them. I fear for the streets and now Ive got to fear for the cops, Barnes said, according to Mercury News. How do we explain to our kids that because of the color of your skin people arent going to like you? Thats not fair, but thats what we have to explain to our kids every day.

So like what weve been talking about today, we didnt want to lose sight of why were here, he continued. Thank you to everybody who came out and kept it peaceful. Were going to get some accountability for the stuff that continues to go on and were doing it for the kids right here. Im in the process of starting a Clark Boy scholarship fund to make sure these boys go to college. Like I mentioned earlier, this isnt a Sacramento problem this is a nationwide problem.

Barnes said he first heard about the tragic death of Stephon from one of his two 9-year-old sons. Apparently his son asked him if police were wrong for what they did Stephon.

I had to pause for a second because the emotion of me wanted to say yes, but at the same time cops arent bad, one cop doesnt make every one bad, Barnes said.
