It seems like the legal drama surrounding infamous exes Matt Barnes and Gloria Govan is never-ending. The former NBA star and former Basketball Wives cast member have been caught up in a whirlwind of legal proceedings for yearsand now theres another layer to things, this time involving child support.
As reported by @TheBlast, Matt is requesting that his current child support payments for the divorced couples 11-year-old twin sons be lowered because he believes that Glorias current boo Derek Fisher is paying the bulk of her billsmeaning she doesnt need as much money as she did in the past.
For a brief refresher, at one point Matt was paying Gloria $20K a month in support payments because Gloria stated in court documents that she does not have a job. Matt is now fighting back against his current child support amount and is asking the judge for a massive financial reduction.
Matt recently filed court documents requesting a judge to examine Gloria’s finances due to the current $7,500 a month hes dishing out in child support payments. His attorneys also claim that despite Gloria telling the court she doesn’t have a job, she still lists her monthly expenses at $20K and still receives $1,250 a month from an unnamed source.
Matt and his attorneys believe they know the reason for these claims and it all stems from Glorias fianc, Derek Fisher, footing the bill. They say that if Derek is helping Gloria financially, then they want a judge to inspect her financial records in the hopes that his current child support payments could be drastically reduced.
If Matt has his way, he hopes to only pay $1,018 per month for both of his sons, thats an extremely different amount from the $20K in the past. As for Glorias side of things, well, she claims that Matt owes her $20K that he didnt pay her back in 2018 and an additional $7,500 he didnt pay her that was due back in December. She also says that Matt has only made half of his monthly payments this year.
