As reported by @Complex, McDonalds is apparently set to grab a bite of the spotlight from the competition courtesy of a new chicken sandwich the fast-food giant hopes will rival both Popeyes and Chick-fil-A. The McDonalds Spicy BBQ Chicken Sandwich is coming your way in just a few days.
The Spicy BBQ Chicken Sandwich and the accompanying Spicy BBQ Chicken Tenders will be available at all McDonalds beginning September 11th. Interestingly, McDonalds’ timing of the debut of the new chicken sandwich definitely looks like its an attempt to get some of the money and attention that Popeyes has grabbed in the last few weeksbut according to insiders McDonalds sandwich was originally announced back in June.
The Spicy BBQ Chicken Sandwich is described as an all-white meat fillet served with pickles and onions, while the chicken tenders are reportedly a classic take on buttermilk crispy tenders, but also hand-tossed and perfectly-sauced in a new spicy BBQ glaze.
Only time and taste buds will tell if McDonalds can inspire the food and social media craze Popeyes has with the new chicken sandwich. Whatever the outcome, well definitely be waiting for the verdict.
