The 41-year-old revealed that the decision was something she never &#8220;would have ever chosen.&#8221;</p>
<p>Additionally, Good explained that after her divorce, she questioned celibacy. A topic that she and Franklin had prioritized during their courtship and even published a book about.</p>

<p>During the interview with Essence, Good revealed that it was not her decision to split from her husband of nine years.</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;It’s nothing that I would have ever chosen, and when I realized that it was happening, I was devastated. I was like, &#8216;This is me, Lord. I did everything that I could do to the best of my ability. I don’t understand why I did all these things, and then this is my end result.'&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>She added that the pair also did not split because of her reluctance to have children. Or because either one of them engaged in &#8220;malicious&#8221; activity.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">Meagan Good Revealed That She Questioned Giving Celibacy Another Try</h3>
<p>Additionally, the 41-year-old revealed that she actually contemplated giving celibacy a second try — something that she and Franklin published a book about, <em>The Wait: A Powerful Practice for Finding the Love of Your Life and the Life You Love.</em></p>
<p>According to a 2016 article published by <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/nbcblk/megan-good-devon-franklin-talk-celibacy-new-book-wait-n517601" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NBC News</a>, Franklin felt celibacy taught him the power of discipline and Good credited the practice for giving her &#8220;needed time to heal.”</p>
<p>After the divorce, Good admitted that she &#8220;struggled&#8221; with the thought of giving celibacy a second try.</p>
<blockquote><p>“I struggled with that. I was like, &#8216;I don’t know if I should be celibate now. I don’t know what I should do.&#8217; I even was at a point early on when I felt, obviously, I still believe in Jesus, but I’m not sure what to believe about anything else anymore.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">The Couple&#8217;s Divorce Was Finalized 7 Days After Their 10-Year Wedding Anniversary</h3>
<p>According to <a href="https://www.essence.com/of-the-essence/meagan-good-of-the-essence/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Essence</a>, Good and Franklin&#8217;s divorce was finalized on June 23, 2022. The milestone occurred just seven days after their 10-year wedding anniversary.</p>
<p>During the interview, Good opened up about how the split affected her faith.</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;That was rough because my biggest fear was what happened between my mom and my dad would to happen to me, which is you’ve been with your husband for 10 years and you break up&#8230; It took me a long time to understand that God didn’t do divorce. DeVon and I both have free will. So, I had to accept that God didn’t lie when he told me that was my husband. That <em>was</em> my husband. But he didn’t say we’d be together forever&#8230;</p></blockquote>
<p>Good went on to explain how her outlook on the unfortunate event shifted.</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;God’s word remains true no matter what happens to you and if anything changes, it’s because sometimes life deals you cards you don’t expect or anticipate, but He’ll still bring you through it and He still has an incredible plan for your life.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>Additionally, the 41-year-old explained that she&#8217;s &#8220;grateful&#8221; for the time she and Franklin had together. But now she is looking forward to getting to &#8220;start life all over again,&#8221; in her &#8220;prime.&#8221;</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;Once I accepted everything, I felt grateful for the time we had together and the beautiful journey. Then there was an excitement. I get to start life all over again, in my prime, with so many incredible things happening in my life and in my career. I get to do this again.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
