<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Our forever First Lady #MichelleObama continues to exemplify greatness. Her activism has been nonstop since she has left the #WhiteHouse and today she was able to unveil just one of the many fruits of her labor.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In support of #InternationalDayoftheGirl, during the #TODAYShow, Michelle announced Global Girls Alliance, which is a new Obama Foundation initiative that aims to empower girls around the world through education, @<a href="https://people.com/politics/michelle-obama-global-girls-initiative-stars-today/">People</a> reports.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“The stats show that when you educate a girl, you educate a family, a community, a country,” Michelle said. “If we care about climate change, if we care about poverty, then we have to care about education.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In partnership with GoFundMe, the initiative will offer funding, networking opportunities, and training among other resources to grassroots leaders all around the world.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“We want to lift up the grassroots leaders in communities all over the world who are clearing away the hurdles that too many girls face,” Michelle added. “Because the evidence is clear: educating girls isn’t just good for the girls, it’s good for all of us.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">She was joined by TODAY hosts Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie, who both brought their daughters to participate in the fun. The grand event also featured performances from Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson and Meghan Trainor.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“I was so excited to have my daughter here,” Guthrie told People at the event. “She was definitely my favorite guest of the morning, even with a former first lady and three amazing music superstars.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“To have her be here and to see her dance and see her shine and see her make friends — I’m so proud of her,” Guthrie added.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Our boo Zendaya was also in the audience, as well as Freida Pinto.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Michelle also celebrated the news on Instagram, sharing a music video starring a group of young girls singing along to Aretha Franklin’s “Respect.” She made a cameo at the end of the video.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">We’re inspired by Michelle Obama’s activism and thank her for being so dedicated to bettering lives!</span></p>
