Now that we’re past the celebrations of making it to 2022, folks on social media shifting the conversations to goals. And it looks like MoneyBagg Yo is joining the list of people hoping to stick by lifestyle changes. On Tuesday, the artist took to Twitter with a personal revelation about the link between creativity and sobriety.
“I use to think being sober would f**k with my creative process, I see dats just a mind thing…” MoneyBagg Yo wrote.
He continued on to break down the benefits he’s seen since easing up on that ‘Wockesha,’ also known as lean.
“…I been more active skin glowing and I been dropping nun but pressure #NoMoWockesha,” he wrote along with fire and data chart emojis.
MoneyBagg Yo’s Previous Commitment To QuittingÂ
If you’ll recall, this isn’t MoneyBagg Yo’s first time speaking on dropping the addictive cough syrup concoction. In January 2020, he interviewed with Rob Markman for Genius and discussed quitting the purple drink.
“I don’t like how it make me feel, like when I perform, you can feel it,” MoneyBagg Yo said in response to Rob’s question about “how bad” did lean drinking get for the rapper. “It slow you down, it’s like it ain’t even really right for you.”
He also shared that he was trying to “go the healthy route” via a cleanse because we’re “not getting younger.” Rob then asked Bagg if he was “done done” with lean.
“I’m done, but it’s like…I’m done, I’m done,” MoneyBagg Yo said. “I can’t even cap…but nah like I’m trying to say like it’s just sometimes it’s just like…like it’s with anything you do. It’s a process getting off of it, it’s hard.”
He shared that first a user needs to to slow down, yield and then eventually stop. He admitted to still being in the process.
A Song’s InspirationÂ
As you may already know, MoneyBagg Yo’s ‘Wockesha’ track took off in 2021. The song discussed the highs and lows of using lean. The rapper dubbed the song “the official lean anthem” and eventually reached number one on Apple Music and number one on US Urban radio, per Chart Data.
