The summer is far from over, but we all know one award show that always ends the summer off with a bang, and that is none other than MTVs Video Music Awards.
On Tuesday, MTV announced the nominations for the 2017 VMAs. Following in the footsteps of the 2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards, this years award show will eliminate gendered categories.
Instead of having a Best Female Video category and a Best Male Video Category, the two categories joined together will result in the Artist of the Year category. The artist to land the most nominations is none other than Kendrick Lamar.
His latest album DAMN, recently went double platinum, and he has been nominated for Artist of the Year, Video of the Year, Best Hip Hop, Best Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction, Best Visual Effects and Best Choreography.
Other nominees include DJ Khaled, Big Sean, Bruno Mars, SZA, The Weeknd, and a list of many other artists.
The 2017 VMA’s take place on August 27th at 8 p.m.
