N.W.A fans have a new milestone to celebrate as the legendary rap group continues to break barriers.
Earlier this year the group was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and now their debut album, ‘Straight Outta Compton,” has been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.
According to XXL, the announcement was made on Tuesday. The group joins other inductees that include, Billie Holiday, David Bowie, Nirvana, Elvis Presley and a host of others.
‘Straight Outta Compton’ released back in 1988, and included the groups classic songs, which include the title track, “F*ck Tha Police,” “Express Yourself,” and more. The album is now three times platinum and has reached the top of the charts.
Neil Portnow, President/CEO of The Recording Academy in a statement, “The Grammy Hall Of Fame represents all genres of music, acknowledging the diversity of musical expression for which The Academy has become renowned. Memorable and inspiring, these recordings are proudly added to our growing catalog and are an integral part of our musical, social and cultural history.”
