It’s been over a year since NBA YoungBoy was hit with federal gun possession charges—and now the outcome has finally been revealed. Earlier today in a Los Angeles courtroom, a jury found NBA YoungBoy not guilty in the high-profile case that could have sent him back to prison for several years.

NBA YoungBoy, born Kentrell D. Gaulden, has reason to celebrate, as his long-standing legal drama in Los Angeles has officially come to an end. YoungBoy was found not guilty of possessing a firearm and ammunition as a felon, ending one of the two federal gun trials he had been facing. After deliberating for two hours, a jury decided that he was innocent of the charges against him, he was initially facing up to 10 years in prison if he was convicted.

You’ll recall that back in March 2021, NBA YoungBoy was arrested on a gun possession charge in California on a separate federal gun possession warrant from an earlier incident in his hometown of Louisiana. In that case, dating back to September 2020, NBA YoungBoy was among 16 people accused of possessing guns and drugs at a video shoot in Baton Rouge.

During this current trial however, YoungBoy’s legal team stated that their client was unaware of his outstanding federal warrant and panicked when armed officers approached his vehicle, causing him to flee the scene. They further argued that YoungBoy didn’t know there was a weapon in the car and no usable fingerprints or DNA tied him to the gun.

Following the verdict, NBA YoungBoy responded to reporters, saying that he was “feeling great” regarding the outcome.
