NBCUniversal has called it quits with Donald Trump! After many years in business together they were under pressure to end their long lasting relationship.
When Trump announced he was running for President two weeks ago, he made racist remarks about Hispanics during his speech.
He said “When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best…They’re sending people who have lots of problems, they’re bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, they’re rapists, and some, I assume, are good people.”
This did not sit well with many people, especially Univision (largest Spanish broadcaster in the U.S) as well as Hispanic groups who cut ties with him also.
Trump and NBC had a joint venture with The Miss USA pageant and Miss Universe pageant. They had partnered together for 11 years and were in the midst of closing another five year 13.5 million dollar contract.
Trump was not too happy about the decision and made a statement about NBC saying “If NBC is so weak and so foolish to not understand the serious illegal immigration problem in the United States, coupled with the horrendous and unfair trade deals we are making with Mexico, then their contract violating closure of Miss Universe/Miss USA will be determined in court.”
NBC will still be airing the Celebrity Apprentice since its licensed to Mark Burnett. They are still deciding who will host the show.
