Nicki Minaj Sits Down With The New York TimesĀ

Nicki Minaj definitely left her print with NY Times, Honey! She spilled major tea and then dropped the mic!
So apparently she recently graced a NY post journalist with her presence and the two got down to the nitty gritty about Nicki’s existence in pop culture. Yall KNOW Nicki addressed EVERYTHING –from her  and Miley’s beef, to Drake and Meek Mill’s beef, to Lil Wayne and Baby… Everything.
Ah where do we even begin?!
Sooooo remember Nicki called out Miley at the VMAs after Miley called herself addressing Nicki’s tweets about her “Anaconda” video not being nominated for the Video of the Year award? Well she finally addressed that:
“The fact that you feel upset about me speaking on something that affects black women makes me feel like you have some big balls. You’re in videos with black men, and you’re bringing out black women on your stages, but you don’t want to know how black women feel about something that’s so important? Come on, you can’t want the good without the bad. If you want to enjoy our culture and our lifestyle, bond with us, dance with us, have fun with us, twerk with us, rap with us, then you should also want to know what affects us, what is bothering us, what we feel is unfair to us. You shouldn’t not want to know that.”

Next, Nicki and NY Times got to talking about appearance and self confidence.

As a kid Nicki says “hell, no!” to being confident in her looks. And follows up by saying, ‘‘Now, I want to take steps to become more aware of who I am, what I like or dislike about my body — why is that?’’ she asked before starting a discussion about Instagram flexin’. She says IG is ‘‘where everyone is freaking drop-dead gorgeous… I get that people put filters on their pictures — I definitely use filters — but I didn’t know people retouched,’’ she said.

She recalls a recent experience when she was supposedly in a night club with a friend and the friend “cleaned all the sweat off our face’’ before she posted their photo. ‘‘We’re in a club! We can have a moist, dewy-looking face.’’ She said.
Then a bit of shade was tossed:
“[Famous] People are posting pictures of working out, and then there’s a change in their body” NY Times added commentary: “most likely from plastic surgery.”

Nicki Minaj continues: “and they say it’s because they were working out! Ah-hahahaha.’’

Taking it back to serious level she says, ‘‘Back in the day, in hip-hop, the thick girl was glorified. Now the rappers are dating skinny white women. So it’s almost like, ‘Wait a minute, who’s going to tell the thick black girls that they’re sexy and fly, too?’ ’’
Well said, Nicki!

Would yall have know that Nicki was a “timid” youngin?!

According to a prior manager, Debra Antney, ‘‘Nicki was the timidest little girl you’d ever want to see in your life — she was so broken up, but she was so determined, all in one breath… I used to have to scream at her: ‘You’re not going to sit here and cry, you’re not going to let nobody shut you down, that’s what you’re not going to do,’ ’’ she says she instilled in Nicki.
We all know that timidness is no more nowadays!!

Anywho the two ventured into Nicki’s love life — which once upon a time was close to a secret but is now the talk of the town.
There is nothing shy about her relationship happenings with Meek. They’re one of Instagram’s top #RelationshipGoals and what not.

What aren’t #goals are Meek and Drake’s beef though — which Nicki surprisingly still hasn’t completely addressed.
We all know what happened. Meek called Drake out for allegedly not writing his own rhymes and then Drake pretty much ended the remainder of Meek’s summer career.
One of the most quotable beef lyrics from Drake was, “is this a world tour or your girls tour?” Drake conveniently asked that in his “Back To Back” record because at the time Meek and Nicki were touring together. Anywho… Like Charlamagne said, ‘‘What happened with Drake and Meek won’t have any effect on Nicki at all, and in fact I think Nicki is so strong that she’s one of the reasons people haven’t completely said Meek is done.'”
So is Nicki responsible for Meek’s relevancy?!
What Nicki did discuss, or not so much was four of the most important guys around her and their beef.

The reporter asked Nicki if she thrives off of drama.
That did not make Nicki a happy camper she said this before ending the interview:
“That’s disrespectful. Why would a grown-ass woman thrive off drama? ‘What do the four men you just named have to do with me thriving off drama?’’ she asked. ‘‘Why would you even say that? That’s so peculiar. Four grown-ass men are having issues between themselves, and you’re asking me do I thrive off drama?” She asked. ‘‘That’s the typical thing that women do. What did you putting me down right there do for you?’’ she asked. ‘‘Women blame women for things that have nothing to do with them. I really want to know why — as a matter of fact, I don’t. Can we move on, do you have anything else to ask?’’ she continued. ‘‘To put down a woman for something that men do, as if they’re children and I’m responsible, has nothing to do with you asking stupid questions, because you know that’s not just a stupid question. That’s a premeditated thing you just did… Do not speak to me like I’m stupid or beneath you in any way. ‘‘I don’t care to speak to you anymore.’’ drops mic
And THAT was the end of a very successful and tea-filled interview with NY Times!
