<p class="ember-view">For the first time in 17 years not one African American actor/actress was nominated for any of the four acting categories. Not even just African Americans, there were no Latino, Asian-American, or American-Indian actors nominated, just all white actors. The last time this happened was in 1998 when Titantic was out winning all the awards.</p>
<p class="ember-view">This comes as a great blow to David Oyelowo, who plays Martin Luther King Jr. in &#8220;Selma&#8221;, who many expected would get an Oscar for Best Actor. Even Bradley Cooper snubbed a nomination in that category for his role in &#8220;American Sniper&#8221;. This is a very different award show from the Oscar Awards last year where three African Americans were nominated in all acting categories including Lupita Nyong&#8217;o and Chiwetel Ejiofor for their roles in &#8220;12 Years a Slave&#8221;.</p>
<p class="ember-view">Even more shocking is Ava DuVernay, who recently broke history for being the first black woman to be nominated for a Golden Globe Award for directing the movie &#8220;Selma&#8221;, didn&#8217;t get a nomination either!</p>
<p class="ember-view">Fortunately &#8220;Selma&#8221; was able to grab a nomination for Best Picture and John Legend and Common&#8217;s &#8220;Glory&#8221; was nominated for Best Song. Even though diversity seriously lacks at this award show, will you still be watching?</p>
