Over 2 Million Pounds Of Chicken Recalled Due To Possible Metal Contamination

Chile, before you sink your teeth into that next bite of chicken, you may want to seriously reconsider. It seems like the list of food recalls continues to grow by the day—and this time a whole lot of chicken is involved.

According to @TodayShow, Simmons Prepared Foods is recalling more than 2 million pounds of chicken products that may be contaminated with metal. The official recall was announced earlier this week by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service. Some of the recalled products include, the Simmons Ready to Cook Chicken Wings Sections and Tenderloins and the Ready to Cook Chicken Whole Legs.

The recall has been classified as a “Class 1”—meaning there is a “reasonable probability” that consumption of these products “will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death,” according to the official statement on this issue. Simmons Prepared Foods stated it discovered there was an issue with some of its poultry during the further processing stage of testing. The chicken was produced from October 21st through November 4th and shipped to stores in Pennsylvania, California, Alabama, Georgia, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Arizona and Arkansas.

In an effort to ensure that no one gets ill from stores that may still have some of the products in freezers, customers are urged to either throw the chicken away or return it to the place of purchase, for a possible refund.

The Food Safety and Inspection Service said that “there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.” However, anyone who may have consumed any of the chicken and is concerned about their health should contact their doctor.

It’s almost getting to the point where we can’t eat anything, be safe ya’ll.
