The owner of the store that called the cops on George Floyd for allegedly trying to use a fake $20 billwhich led to his triggering murder by a police officersays his store will no longer be involving the police in non violent crimes.
An employee of Cup Foods called the police on George, and store owner, Mahmoud Abumayyaleh, who claims he was familiar with George, calling him a big teddy bear says, If I would have been here the authorities would not have been calledGeorge Floyd may still be alive.
Mahmoud took to Facebook to express his regrets of the actions that took place at his store, and claims his employees were just following standard procedure.
We are deeply saddened and outraged by what happened to George Floyd in front of our store, the Cup Foods store ownerwrote. There is no justification for the use of reckless force displayed by the police that murdered George Floyd.
Mahmoud continued to write about while There is a state policy that requires stores to call the police in the case of counterfeit bills, the incidents that led up to this event teach us all an important lesson about dealing with police.
By simply following procedure we are putting our communities in danger. Until the police stop killing innocent people, we will handle incidents like this one using non-violent tactics that do not involve police, he added.
As video footage showed, a white responding officer pushed a non resisting George Floyd to the ground and knelt on his neck for almost 9 minutes as he cried out, saying he couldnt breathe.
Not only did this lead to George Floyds murder by the responding officers, but a number of nation wide protests that are calling for justice in his name.
