<p>Patrick Wojahn—the now-former mayor of College Park, <a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/maryland-parents-reward-son-making-honor-roll-with-music-video-shoot-lets-try-positive-reinforcement/?_gl=1*puezr9*_up*MQ..*_ga*OTc5MjQ4NzM5LjE2ODAxODUzNzI.*_ga_V2HX8YP3XL*MTY4MDE4NTM3MS4xLjEuMTY4MDE4NzA1Mi4wLjAuMA.." target="_blank" rel="noopener">Maryland</a>—has officially been indicted on a whopping 80 counts related to child pornography (CP).</p>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">The Ex-Mayor Was Initially Facing 56 Counts Instead Of 80: &#8216;The Charges Contained In The Indictment Are Serious&#8217;</h3>
<p>The update comes through a report from <em><a href="https://wjla.com/news/local/former-college-park-mayor-patrick-wojahn-indicted-child-porn-charges-pornography-prince-georges-county-maryland-social-media-dmv" target="_blank" rel="noopener">WJLA</a>,</em> and it arrives on the heels of the 47-year-old initially being hit with 56 CP-related charges, as <em><a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/mayor-college-park-maryland-arrested-on-56-counts-of-child-pornography/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Shade Room</a></em> previously reported.</p>
<p>Of the 80 total counts that Wojahn now faces, half are for possession while the remaining 40 are over possession with intent to distribute.</p>

<p>The outlet notes that, per court documents, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children pin-pointed the CP as being shared via Kik, an app used for instant messaging, sometime between January 9-11.</p>
<p>In response to the situation, Aisha Braveboy—the State&#8217;s Attorney for Prince George&#8217;s County—called it &#8220;an unprecedented case&#8221; for the area, which is just outside of Washington, D.C.</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;This is an unprecedented case in our county in which a former elected official has been accused of a crime of this nature. We elect leaders with the expectation that they will serve, protect, and advocate for our children, families, and communities and not harm them in anyway.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>She added, &#8220;The charges contained in the indictment are serious, and we will continue to work with law enforcement to investigate and follow any new leads that may be uncovered.&#8221;</p>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">Patrick Wojahn Resigned Just Ahead Of His Arrest, Was Thanked For His &#8216;Years Of Dedicated Service&#8217;</h3>
<p>While on the subject of Patrick Wojahn&#8217;s ongoing legal situation, we should add that he resigned less than 24 hours ahead of being taken into custody on March 2.</p>
<p>In a <a href="https://www.collegeparkmd.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=458" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a> on the matter, it was noted, &#8220;The City of College Park thanks Mayor Wojahn for his many years of dedicated service.&#8221;</p>
<p>However, city officials also noted that they were &#8220;shocked and disturbed by the news&#8221; and called the ordeal &#8220;a total surprise.&#8221; Additionally, it was acknowledged that &#8220;this news is distressing and difficult for [the] community.&#8221;</p>
