<p>It’s been over a month since the wrongful murder of Philando Castile, but his community is working to make sure that his memory remains alive.</p>
<p>Recently his former high school, St. Paul Central High School started a scholarship in his name.</p>
<p>According to the Star Tribune, recipients of the scholarship will include underprivileged students who are looking to have a career in education or child development.</p>
<p>At the time of his death, Castile served as a nutritionist for the St. Paul public schools. Many of the children he worked with and their families were left in shock by his death back in July.</p>
<p>The schools foundation to benefit the scholarship recently held a fundraiser on August 21<sup>st</sup>.</p>
<p>Karla Basta, the event organizer, and also a former classmate of Castile said, “We all had a lot of rage and anger and grief, and we decided to channel that. Central is a really loyal school, and this was all done by Central alumni.”</p>
<p>They were able to raise more than $25,000, which will be added to the $10,000 that was raised prior to the fundraiser.</p>

<p>It’s great to see the community sticking together after experiencing such a difficult time.</p>
