<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">#MeekMill and his attorneys have been fighting to get him a new trial on the grounds that the judge overseeing his probation violation case, #GeneceBrinkley, has been biased. It&#8217;s being reported that Philly&#8217;s District Attorney reportedly agrees.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">It’s rare that you see the D.A.’s office side with the defendant in a case, however, the District Attorney feels strongly enough that Meek is being wronged. The office apparently filed new docs in Pennsylvania Superior Court stating that Judge Brinkley’s appearance of bias has been “evident throughout the case,” <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2019/05/22/meek-mill-new-trial-district-attorney-philadelphia-judge-genece-brinkley/">@tmz_tv</a> reports.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Therefore, the district attorney is requesting that Meek be retried in his probation violation case.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">If y’all need a refresher, Judge Brinkley sentenced Meek to 2 to 4 years in state prison, which was eventually set aside when Meek was released back in April of 2018. Since then, he has appealed and asked for a new trial, but Judge Brinkley blocked his shot last June, refusing to grant the retrial.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In the docs obtained by TMZ, the District Attorney calls out Brinkley&#8217;s bias against Meek, specifically singling out a surprise visit she made to a homeless shelter where Meek was doing court-ordered community service.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The D.A. points out that&#8217;s “not what judges do,” suggesting that is more along the lines of what probation officers who report back to the judge are responsible for.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">According to the docs, Brinkley also &#8220;abused her discretion&#8221; when she handed out the 2 to 4 year sentence for &#8220;technical violations&#8221; of his probation.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Regardless of what she’s been accused of, she has repeatedly refused to recuse herself from the case.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Even the D.A. feels that Meek serves no threat to the community, and had completed drug treatment &#8212; and therefore deserves another chance in court without Judge Brinkley on the bench.</span></p>
