Police Brutality has once again made headlines after a police officer was videoed using excessive force on teenagers at a pool party in McKinney, Texas.
The officers were allegedly called to the scene after a fight had broken out between a black teen and a few Caucasian women. One witness says a Caucasian woman began yelling racial slurs at the group of teens before the fight broke out.
Allegedly, When officers arrived at the private community pool function, which goers say was for a graduation celebration, a large crowd of teenagers refused to comply with their demands to leave. It took 12 additional units to get the crowd under control. Officer Eric Caseholt was one of the first officers to report the disturbance.
On the video, CaseBolt was seen shouting obscenities and ordering the teenagers to get their faces down on the ground or to disperse. The most disturbing part of the video is when the officer is seen grabbing a black teen by the hair and neck and throwing her to the ground while pushing her face down before putting his knee on her back to pin her on the ground. He then proceeds to pull his gun on two other teenagers who appeared to be coming to her aid.
Keep in mind that the students who were harassed were black but a white student told BuzzFeed, “I think a bunch of white parents were angry that a bunch of black kids who don’t live in the neighborhood were in the pool.”
The video has since went viral and it has now raised many concerns. The McKinney Police Department has since released this statement via social media:
The unarmed black female who was harassed and assaulted has not been charged with anything and was released to her parents.
