As we all still mourn the loss of one of the most influential artist/actor, Prince, 57, not only gave us music that we will never forget, but an impeccable style of choice that probably won’t ever be done the same way twice!

There is Madonna, David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix and other iconic musical artists who believe in the saying, ‘dress to impress,’ but Prince did it in such a way that he made the world see things a lot differently when it came to non-gender conformity.

Prince has outdone the androgynous appeal with wearing lace, silk and velvet fabrics; crop tops, halter jumpsuits and was known for showing his ass off—literally!

To honor the “Purple Rain” legend, I’ll take you back to unforgettable outfits that should never go unnoticed:

1.Remember when I said he showed his ass off? He really did. At the 1991 MTV Music Awards, he performed his song “Gett off” with his band and all and took everyone by surprise with wearing a yellow embroidered two-piece suit. But every time he turned around he gave us a little present—his booty was out!

2. Probably the most memorable movie that Prince played in was ‘Purple Rain.’ In 1984 he wore in the film a purple suit (with a bedazzled shoulder blade), a button down ruffled top and his curls were on point while he sat on a motorcycle posing, which eventually ended up being on the cover of his “Purple Rain” album. According to the Daily Mail, his look was created by costume designers, Louis Well and Terry Vaughn who’ve also worked with the soulful band Earth, Wind and Fire!

3. In 1985, Prince performed at the Fabulous Forum in Inglewood, California and proved that pink was not only a female dominant color, but males can pull it off just as well too—and he did! He wore an Edwardian suit that was covered in a hue of pastel colors, white lace gloves to match and a pink fur boa to top it all off!

4. Prince never failed when wearing all-white at any public function. On September 3, 1994 he helped launch the VH1 music channel in London and wore a white loose fringe top, white pants with gold buttons on the side, a gold cane and a wide gold chained necklace.

5. During the 2015 Grammy Awards, Prince came to the stage dressing very well mannered and comfortably chic wearing an pastel orange colored loose fitted two piece. He wasn’t worried about sweating out his perfectly set curls this time, so instead came all natural, and his sunglasses were enough to speak to his unbothered presence.
