Quincy Jones Reportedly Claims That Michael Jackson’s Estate Owes Him $30 Million

Michael Jackson and Quincy Jones have collaborated on many classic hits that have spanned over multiple generations.

Unfortunately, it looks like Quincy Jones and Michael Jackson’s estate are now battling it out in court over unpaid royalties.

According to Rolling Stone, Jones sued Michael Jackson’s estate back in 2013 claiming that he was owed $10 million for a number of projects that were released following Jackson’s death in 2009.

Those projects included the 25th-anniversary reissue of “Bad,” a Cirque du Soleil production and the “This Is It,” concert film and live album. Now four years later the trail for the lawsuit has reached Los Angeles Superior Court, and now Jones claims he is owed $30 million.

Quincy Jones’ lawyer reportedly claims that he did not receive a decent share of the licensing fees of those projects, nor did he get the appropriate royalties from the renewed interest in Michael Jackson’s catalog following his death.

Zia Modabber, who is representing Michael Jackson’s estate, says that Jones was paid for his contributions. Modabber said, “We believe the evidence will show that Mr. Jones is not entitled to anything but a fraction of the money he’s after.”

“Mr. Jones has been paid over $18 million, and he will make millions more,” said Modabber.

Quincy Jones is expected to testify during the trial, which will probably last for three weeks.
