This year marks the 10th anniversary of the start of the most ratchet soap opera any of us have probably ever seen. In 2005, R. Kelly’s ‘Trapped In The Closet’ took us through a few whirlwind romances which included a preacher coming out to his wife and even a woman cheating on her unsuspecting man with a midget! Chapter 33, which was the last chapter to come out in 2012, ended at a cliffhanger. If you don’t remember Sylvester and Tron ended up escaping those gunmen by entering the back door of the Out Of The Closet Show with Larry!
Thankfully, the Pied Piper of R&B isn’t as cruel as we all thought he was when he left us hanging ! He exclusively sat down with Jinx over at Complex News and revealed what was next for the series. When asked about the possibilities of a Chapter 34, R. Kelly spilled a big cup of tea..there are 40 more videos on the way!
“It was left off at the show out of the closet with Larry, which actually becomes a real show in the world of Trapped In The Closet and it’s more like a spin from the whole Jerry Springer-type [of show]. It’s a lot of drama, so when we come back is going to all start from there– which I’ve already done and it’s got 40 more chapters done already. All we gotta do is shoot it!”
The singer says that all of the characters from every single chapter will make an appearance on the show and will be “coming out of the closet” on the coming chapters. I’m so excited!! I’ve always admired R. Kelly as an artist, because he’s so good at writing and telling stories, so I’m definitely looking forward to the next chapters to come.
Speaking of chapters, Kellz has written and composed hit after hit while remaining a driving force for R&B for over 25 years. He is literally the face of the genre, but Jinx wanted to know who Kelly believes is the king of this chapter of R&B. “You are the king of R&B. Right now when you look at all the new guys, who’s the Prince? Who’s next up?”, Jinx asked and R. Kelly said Chris Brown! “…but I think Chris is more than an R&B king or anything like that,” he said. “I think he’s very talented and has the potential to be the next Michael, if you ask me, because I’ve studied him. I’ve seen him in action and he has that charisma and he has that eye. So few people got that.” Wow, what an honor!
By the way, I heard that Kelly recorded over 400 songs for his upcoming album titled The Bufftet. It’s due Dec. 18th! Roommates, are you ready for more Trapped In The Closet?
