<p>Over four months after his dismembered remains were found in a wooded area, the family of <strong>Rasheem Carter</strong> is calling for the Department of Justice (DOJ) to take on the case, as local <a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/euphoria-star-angus-cloud-hit-and-run/?_gl=1*fc4ygw*_up*MQ..*_ga*MTY3MDUyNTk1OC4xNjc4OTAzOTAy*_ga_V2HX8YP3XL*MTY3ODkwMzkwMS4xLjEuMTY3ODkwMzkwNy4wLjAuMA.." target="_blank" rel="noopener">authorities</a> were swift to rule out foul play from the beginning.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">Authorities Said They Had &#8216;No Reason&#8217; To Suspect Foul Play In The Rasheem Carter Case</h3>
<p><a href="https://www.wapt.com/article/mississippi-rasheem-carter-found-dead-after-going-missing/43298385#" target="_blank" rel="noopener">WAPT</a> reports that Rasheem disappeared back in early October, and—shortly ahead of going missing—the 25-year-old informed his mother that he was being pursued by a group of white men in Taylorsville, Mississippi.</p>
<p>Upon his dismembered remains later being located in early November, the Smith County Sheriff&#8217;s Office noted that—while the death was under investigation—they &#8220;have no reason to believe foul play was involved.&#8221;</p>

<p>While the post didn&#8217;t elaborate on the sheriff&#8217;s office&#8217;s stance, <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/black-man-was-found-dead-telling-mother-was-chased-police-said-no-reas-rcna74651" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NBC News</a> reports that authorities told three different family members that they believe wild animals may have been responsible for tearing up Rasheem Carter&#8217;s body.</p>
<p>We should also add that the medical examiner was unable to determine a cause of death, as Carter&#8217;s remains were badly decomposed.</p>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">Ben Crump Calls The Situation &#8216;A Mississippi Lynching&#8217;</h3>
<p>However, Carter&#8217;s family immediately side-eyed the account, and they enlisted the help of Ben Crump to assist in their pursuit for justice.</p>
<p>During a recent press conference, the civil rights attorney emphasized the suspiciousness of the situation, as he noted that Rasheem&#8217;s head and spinal cord were tracked down in two separate areas.</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;His head was severed from his body. His vertebrae, his spinal cord, was in another spot they discovered away from his severed head.&#8221;</p></blockquote>

<p>He went on to proclaim, &#8220;Someone murdered Rasheem Carter, and we cannot let them get away with this.&#8221;</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;One thing is for certain: This was not a natural death. This represents a young man who was killed. What that tells us is this was a nefarious act, an evil act. Someone murdered Rasheem Carter, and we cannot let them get away with this.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>Additionally, Crump described the matter as &#8220;a Mississippi lynching in 2022.&#8221;</p>
<p>As a result of these factors, Crump and the family want to DOJ to step in.</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;We need the highest levels of law enforcement to administer justice for Rasheem Carter as if he was your child.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
