Whew! We’ve seen our fair share of divorces, but this one just gets messier and messier as the days go on! We previously reported that Dr. Dre’s estranged wife, Nicole Young, is suing him as the co-owner of the trademark to his name, and now, she’s being accused of some criminal activity!
According to TMZ, a letter sent to Nicole from attorneys for Record One recording studio alleges that Nicole drained the primary business account for the studio by writing a check to herself for more than $350,000. The letter claims that she “decimated” the company’s bank account, and the lawyers even attached a photo of the check she allegedly wrote to herself.
The letter asks that Nicole return the money she allegedly stole no later than next week. Otherwise, the attorneys are threatening to file a lawsuit against her.
Nicole’s, lawyer, however, believes that this whole thing is just a “PR stunt”, in an attempt to take some of heat off of Dre for allegedly trying to “cheat” Nicole out of some of the property she is entitled to.
“This is just a low-grade PR stunt by Andre and his team to try to change the fact that the was caught red-handed and sued for trying to cheat Nicole out of community property to which she is entitled,” Bryan Freedman tells TMZ. “There is no question that Nicole has both the contractual and the legal rights to have taken this action and Andre’s team is well aware of this face. Any suggestion she did something untoward is preposterous and pathetic.”
The previous court documents alleged that Dre “secretly” transferred trademarks to a holding company after kicking Nicole out of their home earlier this year. Nicole is alleging that Dre did all of this just to have more for himself when the divorce was settled.
