<p><strong>Reese Witherspoon </strong>and her husband,<strong> Jim Toth, </strong>are going their separate ways. Days before their 12th anniversary, the estranged couple announced their &#8220;difficult decision&#8221; <a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/michael-halterman-files-for-divorce-from-1000-lb-sisters-star-amy-slaton/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">to divorce</a>. Their announcement came via social media on Friday (March 24).</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;We have some personal news to share. It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce. We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness, and mutual respect for everything we have created together,&#8221; the statement said.</p></blockquote>
<p>Less than an hour after posting the announcement, the post garnered over 183,000 likes. However, Reese turned off the comment section.</p>

<p>According to <em>PEOPLE, </em>Toth and Witherspoon were <a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/lil-durk-says-ex-fiancee-india-royale-has-him-in-a-headlock-amid-rapper-baby-mama-tweets/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">first romantically linked</a> in February 2010 after being spotted at dinner. In 2012, she told <em>Elle </em>in an interview that she met Jim at a friend&#8217;s house after her breakup with Jake Gyllenhaal.</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;It happened out of the blue. This really drunk guy was hitting on me, making such an idiot of himself, yelling at me,&#8221; Resse said. She added, &#8220;Jim came over and said please excuse my friend, he&#8217;s just broken up with someone.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>The actress, 47, labeled Jim &#8220;a really good friend&#8221; for coming to his intoxicated friend&#8217;s rescue. In <a href="https://www.elle.com/culture/celebrities/g2801/reese-witherspoon-unbound-612491/?slide=1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">her words</a>, <em>&#8220;that&#8217;s just kind of who he is, a really good person.&#8221; </em></p>
<p>By December 2010, Jim proposed, and Reese accepted. A few months later, on March 26, 2011, Reese and Jim <a href="https://people.com/movies/reese-witherspoon-jim-toth-relationship-timeline/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">married</a> in California.</p>
<p>At the time, Witherspoon was already a mother to two children, Deacon and Ava, from her previous marriage to Ryan. Then, over a year after getting married, Witherspoon and Toth welcomed their first child together, Tennessee James, in September 2012.</p>
