Remembering Prince On The One Year Anniversary of His Passing

One year ago the world unexpectedly lost Prince, the musical icon we’ve all learned to love throughout the years. With a career that has expanded over more than 30 years, his legacy continues to live on forever.

Within the past year fans and peers have kept Prince’s legacy alive in multiple ways. Whether it was through tribute performances, the re-release of some of his classic hits or simply watching his 1984 film, “Purple Rain,” multiple times.

Here are some key events that have happened within this past year that have solidified that Prince’s memory will live on forever.

Back in October Prince’s Paisley Park officially opened to the public. The late singer’s estate located in Chanhassen, MN was turned into a museum where fans were granted the opportunity to see where the singer lived and made some of his classic hits.

For a while, it was rumored that the estate was going to be sold, but once news broke that it would be turned into a museum to preserve his legacy, Prince’s sister said, “Opening Paisley Park is something that Prince always wanted to do and was actively working on. Only a few hundred people have had the rare opportunity to tour the estate during his lifetime. Now fans from around the world will be able to experience Prince’s world for the first time.”

Another key event that has happened since Prince’s passing is the release of his “Prince 4ever Album.” The project included some of Prince’s classic hits such as “When Doves Cry,” “Raspberry Beret,” and “I Wanna Be Your Lover.” It also included an unreleased song, and never before seen photos in the album’s booklet.

Like many of us, Prince’s ex-wife and former “Hollywood Ex’s” star, Mayte Garcia, wanted to remember Prince in a special way. Garcia decided to release a memoir entitled, “The Most Beautiful: My Life With Prince.” In the book, which released earlier this month, Garcia talked about meeting Prince for the first time, and more memorable moments from their marriage.

Prince’s former group The Revolution has also gotten back together in the wake of the singer’s death. The group is expected to perform at Paisley Park as fans celebrate Prince’s life on the anniversary of his passing, and they will also be hitting the road together for the first time in years.

There have been so many changes since Prince’s passing, but if there is one thing that is clear, it is that his legacy will continue to live on for many years to come.
