It’s that time of year again when the nominees for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame are announced.

On Tuesday, the nominees for induction into the 2019 class were revealed. There were some familiar names among this year’s list of nominees, and also a few new names. Six out of the 15 nominees are on the ballot for the first time.

To be eligible for a nomination, an artist or band “must have released its first commercial recording at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination.”

Rufus featuring Chaka Khan, Janet Jackson and LL Cool J all are returning to the ballot this year. This is Rufus featuring Chaka Khan’s third time being nominated, they were first eligible back in 1999. Janet Jackson has earned her third nomination as well, with her eligible year starting in 2007. LL Cool J is now looking at his fifth nomination, with his eligibility starting back in 2009.

The remaining nominees include Def Leppard, Devo, John Prine, Kraftwerk, MC5, Radiohead, Rage Against the Machine, Roxy Music, Stevie Nicks, The Cure, The Zombies, and Todd Rundgren.

Inductees will be announced in December and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY on March 29th, 2019.
