I know that’s right! Black content creators are receiving their flowers and owning the rights to their dance moves, and I’m here for it! One, in particular, is Keara Wilson, who created the #SavageChallenge to Megan Thee Stallion’s song, ‘Savage.’ The challenge was one of the biggest on Tik Tok during the pandemic and had celebrities like Justin Bieber, Jennifer Lopez, and the HTown Hottie herself showing off their moves.

This past Tuesday, Keara was recognized for her artistry through the “Creators4BIPOC” event by Logitech and Megan’s choreographer JaQuel Knight. At the event, she, along with six other creators, received copyrights to their viral dances, according to @yahoonews. Keara shared the good news on Instagram and thanked JaQuel for the honor in a lengthy post.

In addition, the Nae Nae Twins who created the viral dance to Megan’s GRAMMY award-winning #SavageChallengeRemix featuring Beyonce were also presented with copyrights for their dance moves! As there were several other viral dances, Logitech and JaQuel also recognized Young Deji, creator of “The Woah” dance; Fullout Cortland, who created choreography to Doja Cat’s “Say So” performance at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards; and Chris Cotter, who created the “Up” dance to Cardi B’s hit song, among others.

JaQuel, who, outside of working with Megan, has done the choreography for Beyonce, spoke out about the event and shared that he was thrilled to partner with Logitech to help the young creators protect their viral creations. JaQuel said, “The JK Foundation was ultimately started,” said Knight, “to provide a place of support for dancers (during an extremely fragile time in the pandemic, nonetheless), and to put the power back in the artists’ hands — not just for myself, but for the next JaQuel Knight. For all of the little boys and girls who look like me.”

This is such a big thing! Congrats to all the Black creators!
