<p>Saweetie has experienced heavy media coverage over the last few weeks. From her <a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/saweetie-confirms-split-from-quavo/">public split</a> with rapper Quavo to a leaked video of a dispute between the exes, Saweetie <a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/saweetie-releases-exclusive-statement-after-video-of-altercation-with-quavo-surfaces-there-were-simply-too-many-other-hurdles-to-overcome-in-our-relationship/">couldn&#8217;t catch a break</a>. However, that hasn&#8217;t slowed the rap star from securing her bag!</p>
<p>She recently sat down with Melicia Johnson from Entertainment Tonight to chit-chat about all the current moves in her life and career. The eight-minute clip was released early Saturday.</p>

<p>The interview was filmed Zoom-style, with Melicia and Saweetie appearing on split and single screens. Melicia kicks off the interview by asking Saweetie to share a message with her &#8216;Icy Gang&#8217; fanbase.</p>
<p>&#8220;Thank you for the love and support,&#8221; Saweetie responded to the question. &#8220;They love me through thick and thin, so when the internet loves me, they love me. When the internet&#8230;when it&#8217;s one of them days, they out there defending me.&#8221;</p>
<p>Then, Melicia jumped into talking about the inspiration behind Saweetie&#8217;s current project named &#8216;Pretty Summer Playlist: Season 1.&#8217; The playlist <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CNTo2X6slbk/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link">showcases up-and-coming artists</a> by collaborating with Saweetie on a song. The goal is to provide these artists with exposure. Saweetie hopes to make the playlist an annual tradition.</p>
<p>&#8220;When I first came out, I didn&#8217;t really have a lot of love and support so I&#8217;m just giving what I wish was given to me,&#8221; Saweetie said. &#8220;I never wanna carry the chip on my shoulder and project that.&#8221;</p>
<p>Saweetie decided to share her platform with new artists because, in her words, &#8220;we all need help.&#8221; She also addressed talk that she is <a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/warner-chappell-music-formally-extends-publishing-deal-with-saweetie/">up-and-coming herself</a> and unqualified to lead this project.</p>
<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m the type of person that if I can help you out while I&#8217;m helping out myself and if I can do that and it&#8217;s not affecting me in a bad way, then I&#8217;m going to do that,&#8221; Saweetie said. &#8220;So, yes I&#8217;m still growing. I still have a lot of room for improvement. I still have a lot of goals I need to reach, but you know what good music is good music.&#8221;</p>
<p>Later on in the interview, Melicia addressed &#8220;the elephant in the room.&#8221; She asked Saweetie to give advice to anyone who&#8217;s in a <a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/altercation-between-quavo-saweetie-caught-on-elevator-video/">relationship that no longer serves them</a>. Saweetie responded by pinpointing conversations as a solution.</p>
<p>&#8220;I know being toxic is funny and people think it&#8217;s cute, but I&#8217;m all about treating other people how I want to be treated,&#8221; Saweetie said. &#8220;If I wasn&#8217;t serving somebody no more, I would want them to respect me enough to have a conversation and then we go our separate ways.&#8221;</p>
<p>Saweetie said she maintains love in her heart regardless.</p>
<p>&#8220;Whether if you&#8217;re in my life or not in my life anymore, I&#8217;m going to always love you because I&#8217;m really focused on just having good relationships with people,&#8221; Saweetie said. &#8220;I mean, who wants to have hate in their heart. That is ugly energy and I&#8217;m all about this pretty girl energy!&#8221;</p>
