#Roommates, a man from Houston was so in love he cashed out $80k on a woman he ain’t never even seen!
According to KHOU, Greg Davis sent $80k over a 2-year period to an “exotic woman” from Chicago, who goes by the name of Malikah on Match.com. He communicated with the catfish often on the phone, through emails and a little sexting.
Soon after, the woman told Greg that her father died and left her with millions in his will. She told Greg she needed to borrow some cash for taxes and shipping of the money. He instantly agreed to help, maxing out his credit cards, taking out more than a dozen payday loans, and draining his retirement fund. “It was increments of $5,000, $10,000,” he told reporters. “It was also spent trying to pay for the fine that was on the money in storage.”
The catch is, he never met the woman. After telling his story, KHOU did some digging and found out she’s actually a porn star from Columbia! “I feel kind of stupid,” Greg admitted.
Despite all of this, there are a few lessons Greg took away from the whole ordeal. “Make sure you’re actually face-to-face with that person you’re supposed to be dealing with, because the internet dating thing, you don’t know what you’re getting,” he shared.
