There is no doubt that Simone Biles is a trendsetter in her own right, and she continues to raise the bar as she leaves her impact in the world of gymnastics. On Sunday, she made history as she walked away with her seventh U.S. all-around title, making her the first American woman to earn that achievement.
According to NBC Sports, Simone has won every all-around competition she has entered dating back to 2013. She was previously tied with Clara Schroth Lomady, who won her titles between 1945 and 1952. Now she is tied with Alfred Jochim, for most wins by any American.
Simone spoke about her historic win and said, “Its really emotional, especially going into my second time doing an Olympic run. Its really crazy.” It was only two weeks ago when she landed another historical title under her belt. While competing at the U.S. Classic she became the first woman to ever land the Yurchenko Double Pike Vault.
While celebrating her wins, Simone also has her eyes set on the next competition as she continues to prepare for this year’s Olympics. She spoke about not performing the Yurchenko Double Pike Vault nor the double-double balance beam dismount that was named after her while competing at the U.S. all-around.
“Were definitely going to do it at Trials,” she said. “I didnt do it at this competition because on Wednesday I jammed my ankles and they didnt feel too good, so we just made a decision to not do it and not rush it so that I wouldnt be too, too nervous.”
When she’s not making moves on the mat, Simone is also making moves behind the scenes. As previously reported, back in April she ended her six-year partnership with Nike for Athleta .
