Hip Hop pioneer, Slick Rick, has another major milestone to celebrate today as he has officially obtained his U.S. citizenship!
TMZ caught up with the legend outside of a New York courthouse just after he was sworn in and he told them, “I am so proud of this moment — and so honored to finally become an American citizen.”
“La Di Da Di” rapperhas apparently been battling immigration for some time now ever since 1990 prison stint he did for a self-defense shooting.TMZ reports, “He was eventually pardoned, but was threatened with deportation several times.”
I don’t know about you, but it definitely looks like he’s kicked deportation’s a**! He also says he’ll keep dual citizenship here in the States as well as in the U.K.
Congratulations, Slick Rick! You did it!
