Chris Christie, the governor of New Jersey is under fire after making a trip to the beach with his family this past weekend.
With it being a holiday weekend, many people in New Jersey were looking to hit up the beach with family and friends. Unfortunately, that did not happen due to the beaches being closed.
According to CNN, on Friday Christie ordered that beaches across the state be closed due to “the ongoing budget impasse in the state’s legislature.” However, 48 hours after, Christie and his family were pictured alone on Island Beach State Park.
As you all can imagine, this caused an uproar, seeing that beaches were declared closed by Christie himself.
Following his time at the beach, the governor reportedly took the state helicopter to a press conference in Trenton where he was asked about his beach stay in which he reportedly said, “I didn’t get any sun today.” When shown the photos, his spokesperson reportedly responded, “He did not get any sun. He had a baseball hat on.”
On Monday during an interview, he said, “They actually caught a politician being where he was going to be with the people he said he was going to be with, his wife and his children and their friends. So I’m sure they’re going to get a Pulitzer Prize for this one because they actually proved they caught me doing what I said to do with the people I said I was going to be with.”
