Twitter is weighing in on Gayle King’s latest interview where she sat down with WNBA legend Lisa Leslie.
During the interview she asked Lisa does she think past allegations against the late Kobe Bryant make his legacy complicated. Lisa’s response has caused her to receive praise from fans all over!
Gayle visited Lisa at her Florida home for the interview, and before getting into the status of his legacy. Lisa talked about how Kobe was actively working to change people’s perceptions of women’s basketball. Lisa said, “He was really making change. He was changing the mindsets of other men more than anybody else. He’s validating us if you will, these young ladies who are out there playing, the fact that he’s enjoying and being entertained by great basketball.”
She went on to talk about how he would spend more time at WNBA games than Lakers games because of his daughter Gigi because she wanted to see certain players.
Lisa went on to speak about when she first met Kobe, right before his rookie season with the Lakers began. She recalled how much he looked up to Michael Jordan, and he would study every detail of his tapes.
Of course, Kobe would go on to create his own legacy and become a basketball legend after playing with the Lakers for 20 seasons.
Also during the interview, Gayle mentioned that some people have said that Kobe’s legacy is complicated because of past sexual assault charges. She then asked Lisa if she thought his legacy was complicated as well.
