We are definitely going through a time where people throughout the world are not playing games at all in the light of the recent protests. On Sunday, fashion designer Virgil Abloh showed off his donation towards bailing out protesters in Miami and social media was not happy to see the amount that was donated.
Prior to sharing the donation amount he did provide his followers with a link to a list of bail funds and legal help by each city.
He then proceeded to share a screenshot of a $50 donation and said, “The Miami community, I’m inspired. For kids in the streets that need bail funds for George Floyd protests.” He then said he was “matching the local energy,” as he tagged a few other accounts.
For those who may not know, Virgil is the founder of the high-end clothing line “Off-White,” and he also served as the artistic director of Louis Vuitton‘s menswear ready wear line. Many people online have been comparing the prices of his products to the amount that he has donated.
One person said, “Virgil Abloh, artistic director for one of the biggest fashion houses in the world, just posted a screenshot of his $50 donation to the ‘Kids in the streets that need bail funds.’ Fifty. F*cking. Dollars.”
