Over the weekend, the Verzuz battle that many people had been waiting for finally happened. SWV and Xscape faced off in celebration of Mother’s Day as they performed all of their classic hits. However, during the battle, some fans noticed that SWV’s lead singer, Coko Clemons, may have seemed a little uncomfortable or irritated.
On Sunday, Coko took to Instagram to explain why she may have seemed a little uncomfortable during the first half of the battle.
She said, “Last night as Im preparing for Verzuz, a lady was shot outside my hotel window. To see & hear the four shots, see her laying on the ground and all the blood was unbelievable!! Thennnn…I get to the venue and had a really bad anxiety attack! Literally crying & screaming.”
“Yeah yall saw me looking uncomfortable & irritated during the first half but, if it wasnt for my son @jayyemichael @ynottamiya & @mrljb I probably wouldnt have been out there at all,” she continued. “Thank you for calming me down & understanding my mental. I love yall to the fullest!! I always say most wont care to understand but when you get those that do cherish them!!”
After she revealed what she witnessed, many fans admitted they were wrong to assume the reasons for her behavior and acknowledged, you never know when someone could be going through something.
Although Coko experienced a scary situation, she still showed up and showed out during the battle.
