Tahiry Jose may be out of this season’s Love & HipHop NY but she is not out of the spotlight.

If you recall on September 8, Tahiry was brutally attacked backstage during a New York Fashion Week show she was preparing to walk in. The assault left her hospitalized and in a neck brace for weeks.

Well according to TMZ, Tahiry’s attacker, Charles Suggs, who was the production manager, has gotten off with a slap on the wrist. “Suggs copped a plea and got off with no jail time. He has to complete an anger management program and he has to stay clear of Jose for 5 years … or else.”

Tahiry confirmed the attack on Instagram a few days after the incident happened with this statement:

Thank you ALL for your well wishes. I am both appreciative and grateful to have you on my team and call you #teamtahiry! I am sincerely touched by your outpouring of love.

As you may or may not know, on Monday, Sept. 8, I was attacked, assaulted and violated, while in the workplace, by a man. I was beaten because I am woman with a voice and refuse to be disrespected. It is more proof that the violence against women is real and needs to be addressed publicly. The shaming and disrespecting of women/victims of violent abuses must stop. Violence against women must stop; a women’s voice and refusal to be disrespected is not grounds for physical abuse. #iamwoman #myvoicematters

More to the point, I am home, healing and surrounded by love.

Rest assured, I will continue all my efforts and endeavors with the same faith, determination, passion and spirit I have always possessed.

Again, thank you! You are ALL heroes of mine!
Love, Tahiry

Violence against women at the hands of a man is never okay no matter the circumstance. However, this side had two completely different stories coming from opposite camps. If you missed this TEA you can catch up here. We bet this wasn’t the Christmas gift Tahiry was hoping for. Let’s chat what do you think about the sentence Mr. Suggs got?
