As Tay-K remains behind bars, he’s speaking on how he believes his situation would be different if he were “a lil white kid.”

Tay-K Says He Needs A Chance To Do Right

On Thursday, the rapper spoke on the matter through a series of tweets, the first of which read, “I really just need 1 chance @ adulthood.”

I really just need 1 chance @ adulthood

He proceeded to share that he believes his situation would’ve been different if he were white. Specifically, he thinks the courts would’ve offered him “rehabilitation and a 2nd (1st) chance at adulthood” rather than sentencing him to 55 years.

I bet if I was a lil white kid they wouldn’t have gave me no 55 years for a crime I was alleged to play the most insignificant role in when I was 16….they woulda rightfully argued that my mind wasn’t fully developed and gave me rehabilitation and a 2nd (1st) chance at adulthood

The “Murder She Wrote” rapper then referenced one of his codefendants—a 16-year-old “white girl” who “ended up getting 10 years of probation without no deal”—to prove his point.

one of my codefendants was a white girl who was 16 jus like me…they didn’t certify her as an adult but they certified me n pimp as adults, pimp got 30, I got 55, she ended up getting 10 years of probation without no deal…that girl @ home rn

The Rapper Is Set To Be In Prison For Quite Some Time

Back in 2016, a then-16-year-old Tay-K faced serious charges after participating in a robbery that ended with the death of a 21-year-old man named Ethan Walker. After spending some time at a juvenile detention facility, Tay-K was ultimately placed on house arrest as he awaited a certification hearing, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Notably, Tay-K ultimately cut his ankle monitor off and proceeded to go on the run for about three months. During this time, he released his beloved “The Race” track, which detailed the experience through an iconic verse: “F**k a beat, I was tryna beat a case / But I ain’t beat that case, so b***h I did the race!”

After being apprehended up in New Jersey, the track blew up, and the rapper gained a devoted following. However, Tay-K was ultimately found guilty of murder, as well as three aggravated robbery charges. As a result, he was sentenced to 55 years behind bars.

However, this isn’t the end of his legal troubles, as KSAT reports that he was indicted on murder charges for a killing that went down while he was on the run.

What are your thoughts on Tay-K’s tweets, and you share similar sentiments regarding the situation?
