Things are getting real! <a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/will-smith-slaps-chris-rock-in-the-face-over-joke-about-jada-pinketthttps://dev.theshaderoom.com/will-smith-slaps-chris-rock-in-the-face-over-joke-about-jada-pinkett-smiths-hair/-smiths-hair/">Will Smith</a> continues to be a hot topic after he slapped Chris Rock during last night&#8217;s Oscars. While the two men haven&#8217;t broken their silence about the incident, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has. They issued a statement condemning the actions of the Best Actor winner for his role in the film &#8216;King Richard.&#8217;</p>
<p>According to <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2022/03/28/entertainment/academy-members-discuss-will-smith-oscars-slap/index.html">CNN</a>, the statement read, &#8220;The Academy condemns the actions of Mr. Smith at last night&#8217;s show. We have officially started a formal review around the incident and will explore further action and consequences in accordance with our Bylaws, Standards of Conduct, and California law.&#8221;</p>
<p>While it&#8217;s unclear how long the process will take to review the incident, it was revealed earlier in the day that the Academy leadership &#8220;strongly considered&#8221; removing Will from the Oscars telecast after the incident. Says a source close to the situation.</p>
<p>The source advised, &#8220;Academy leadership strongly considered removing Will Smith from last night&#8217;s broadcast following the incident.&#8221; The source added, &#8220;There were immediate discussions, but the Academy decision-makers were seated in various spots in the Dolby Theater and couldn&#8217;t mobilize to make a decision before he won best actor.&#8221; The conversation around the incident doesn&#8217;t seem like it will be dying down soon.</p>
<p>Although Will apologized to the Academy and his fellow nominees during his acceptance speech, some feel like it wasn&#8217;t enough and the investigation is warranted. One Roommate commented, &#8220;As they should! They should have escorted him out of the building. Venus and Serena should have accepted it on Will&#8217;s behalf.&#8221; Another commented, &#8220;I understand both sides, but who is the victim here, and why nobody checked on Chris Rock?&#8221;</p>
