<p>It’s been five months since the tragic shooting that took place at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, FL.</p>
<p>The mass shooting claimed the lives of 49 people and left 53 people injured.</p>
<p>Now the city of Orlando is planning to turn the nightclub into a memorial, to honor those who were involved with the shooting.</p>
<p>According to <em><a href="http://www.rollingstone.com/culture/news/city-of-orlando-buying-pulse-nightclub-to-create-memorial-w449525">Rolling Stone</a></em>, Buddy Dyer, the mayor of Orlando confirmed that the city has agreed to purchase the nightclub for $2.25 million, as they plan to honor the victims of the shooting.</p>
<p>He said they are hoping to, “create something to honor the memory of the victims that are deceased and those that were injured, and a testament to the resilience of our community.”</p>
<p>He continued, “There are lots of people that are making a visit to the site part of their trip, part of their experience of Orlando, so I think 12 to 18 months of leaving it as-is would be appropriate.”</p>
<p>The club has been empty since the June 12<sup>th</sup> shooting; the owners of the club had announced that they were making it a memorial before a rep denounced their announcement.</p>
<p>However, a month later the city placed a new barrier around the club allowing people to pay their respects.</p>

<p>This is a great way to honor those who lost their lives and those whose lives were changed forever because of the shooting.</p>
