<p>Roommates, if you&#8217;re a &#8216;Bridgerton&#8217; fan, please hold on to your wig, cause a new bombshell has just been released and it seems ya mansss Simon, will not be participating in the second season of the hit show &#8216;Bridgerton.&#8217; The news comes ironically the day after April Fools via an Instagram post made to the show&#8217;s official Instagram account. In the statement, the &#8216;Bridgerton&#8217; account confirms Rene-Jean&#8217;s departure:</p>
<p class="p1">“While all eyes turn to Lord Anthony Bridgerton’s quest to find a Viscountess, we bid adieu to Regé-Jean Page, who so triumphantly played the Duke of Hastings,” Adding, “We’ll miss Simon’s presence onscreen, but he will always be a part of the Bridgerton family. Daphne will remain a devoted wife and sister, helping her brother navigate the upcoming social season and what it has to offer – more intrigue and romance than my readers may be able to bear.” Talk about bombshell y&#8217;all!</p>

<p>The news has sent social media users into a frenzy, with many questioning if the show will still have the same appeal as it did in Season 1. According to <a href="https://deadline.com/2021/04/rege-jean-page-not-returning-season-2-bridgerton-exit-1234726750/">Deadline</a>, sources have revealed that Rene-Jean was only contracted for 1 season, and the initial plan was to only have &#8216;The Duke of Hastings&#8217; for the one season. Despite his surprising departure, it seems Rege-Jean&#8217;s character, &#8216;Simon&#8217; will continue to be mentioned within the plot. On the bright side, Rege-Jean did just receive an <a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/viola-davis-chadwick-boseman-issa-rae-more-were-the-definition-of-black-excellence-at-the-2021-naacp-image-awards/">NAACP award</a> for Best Actor in a Drama Series.
