Tina Lawson is booked and busy in those Hollywood streets! Not long after landing her own Facebook Watch series, Talks with Mama Tina, she added a first-time gig to her entertainment resume. Tina took to Instagram early Tuesday to announce her debut voice-acting role on The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder series.

“I had so much fun voicing Ms. Gina who is really kind of Ms.Tina,” she wrote on Instagram along with an episode preview. “I cannot wait to watch this with my grandkids they love the show! The old one and the new one.”

Apparently, Ms. Tina’s character is a hair salon owner with ties to the Proud Family, Suga Mama in particular. The episode preview suggests that Penny and her crew visit the shop to plan for LaCienega Boulevardez’s quinceañera. Ms. Gina isn’t really here for the birthday girl’s hairstyle choice, but agrees to do the “interesting” work– saying “it’s your day chile.”

A New Show For A New Generation

More than a decade after The Proud Family Movie ended the series, the louder-and-prouder reboot was announced in February 2020. So far, the Disney+ show has welcomed majority of the original cast, including Kyla Pratt as Penny Proud and Tommy Davidson as Oscar Proud.

For Ms. Tina, the role comes with some nostalgia. Like many of us, the mama to superstars Beyoncé and Solange was familiar with the OG show–to the point of enjoying it solo.

“I also watched the show with and without my children. So it brings it full circle for me to do a voice over thanks to my good friend Ralph Farquhar Producer along with his partner Bruce W. Smith the creator,” Tina said.

Along with Ms. Tina, the show has plans to welcome a number of new-age guests. Per Newsweek, the hefty guest list includes Lil Nas X, Lizzo, Tiffany Haddish, Marsai Martin, Normani, Jaden Smith and Bretman Rock to name a few.

The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder premiered on February 23. Ms. Tina’s episode is available for streaming on April 13.
