Recently singer and songwriter Tiwa Savage took to social media to speak about the “End SARS” protests that have been happening in her home country of Nigeria. As she spoke about the strength and beauty of Nigeria, she also spoke about how the country needs support now more than ever.

One person she called on to use their voice and platform to speak about the current matter is Beyoncé. She recently worked with Beyoncé on her “Black is King,” film, which is a visual inspired by Beyoncé’s 2019 album, “Lion King: The Gift.”

Tiwa said, “I was involved, recently, in a project that I was so proud of, like as an artist I was so so proud to be called to be among the few people that was involved in this project. It’s called ‘Black Is King: The Gift album. But I want to use my platform right now to call Beyoncé and the whole team that reached out to a lot of Nigerians. Nigerian artists, Nigerian producers, Nigerian video directors, dancers, creatives.”

She continued, “I’m calling on Beyoncé and her team, the same way they used their platform… to elevate and to show the world that Black is King and how beautiful Afrobeat and Africa our culture is. I want them to please use their voice and their platform right because the same country that birth this genre is on fire right now.”

As we previously reported, the “End SARS” movement became a trending topic after the youth in Nigeria decided to stand up against the “Special Anti Robbery Squad” (SARS) following its years of profiling the youth. There have been alleged reports of illegal detentions, murders, and extortion that have occurred due to SARS.
