As pageant season continues, it looks like we have another amazing black queen on our hands.
On Saturday, Miss Jamaica, Toni-Ann Singh was crowned Miss World 2019. The competition took place at London’s ExCeL convention center and she competed in the Top 12 against women from various places such as France, India, Mexico, Brazil, Kenya, Nigeria, Russia, and many others.
The 23-year-old is reportedly the first Jamaican to hold the Miss World title since Lisa Hanna, who was crowned back in 1993.
According to CNN, the Miss World Pageant is one of the four major global beauty pageants, and the oldest, as it has been around for almost 70 years. Toni-Ann Singh is now the 69th woman to be crowned Miss World.
The contestants from about 111 countries have spent the last month in London, as they have competed in different categories such as “Sports,” and “Beauty With A Purpose,” to secure their spot during the televised portion of the pageant.
As we previously reported, this has been the year that our beautiful black queens have been recognized. Just last weekend, Miss South Africa was crowned as Miss Universe, joining Miss America, Miss USA, and Miss Teen USA, who are also black women. Now the Miss World title is being held by a black woman as well.
