<p>Whew! The trailer for Hulu&#8217;s limited series, <em>Mike</em>, was released on Wednesday, and let&#8217;s just say the innanet had a lot to say about Trevante Rhodes! The <em>Moonlight</em> actor was cast to play the legendary Mike Tyson in a deep dive of his life journey.</p>
<p>The eight-episode series, which airs on August 25, will reportedly explore Tyson&#8217;s tumultuous personal life and the paths he walked to achieve success as a boxer. The limited series also &#8220;intends to examine race and class in America,&#8221; according to <a href="https://people.com/sports/hulu-releases-mike-tyson-series-teaser-trevante-rhodes/">PEOPLE</a>.</p>
<p>While Mike Tyson has been in the middle of several scandals over the course of his career, showrunner Karin Gist explained that the show&#8217;s production team aspired to &#8220;dig deeper&#8221; into his life story, as opposed to simply glorifying his life successes.</p>

Our goal was to take a very complicated and controversial figure and try to get under the hood of what he was praised and vilified for while staying true to our North Star of &#8216;no one person is one thing.'&#8221;</p></blockquote>

<p>The 55-year old boxing champion was convicted of rape in 1992, and later had his boxing license revoked after biting Evander Holyfield&#8217;s ear. Nevertheless, Gist doubled down on the show having a balance of the good, the bad and the ugly as it pertains to Tyson and his legacy.</p>
<blockquote><p>The show is not supposed to be a love letter or an indictment, which is why we had to include all the good, the bad, and the complexities of both.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>Taking on the role of playing Tyson is a career-changing move. While some fans praised Trevante Rhodes for diversifying his acting portfolio, others compared him to Jamie Foxx, who was slated to play Mike Tyson in a forthcoming film.</p>
