<p>According to <a href="https://people.com/tristan-thompson-gets-temporary-guardianship-of-little-brother-amari-thompson-after-mom-s-death-7972583" target="_blank" rel="noopener">PEOPLE</a>, the 32-year-old requested sole legal guardianship of his younger brother on September 8. At the time, Thompson reportedly alleged that he and Amari&#8217;s father, Trevor Thompson, had been &#8220;absent&#8221; from Amari&#8217;s life since 2014.</p>
<p>Additionally, Thompson explained that he was Amari&#8217;s &#8220;closest living family member.&#8221;</p>
<p>We should note that Thompson&#8217;s younger brother reportedly has epilepsy &#8220;in addition to other medical conditions.&#8221; According to the outlet, this requires the teenager to receive &#8220;around-the-clock support.&#8221;</p>

<p>According to the outlet, a Los Angeles court granted the NBA player temporary guardianship of his brother on Wednesday. The outlet reports that the ruling bestows Thompson &#8220;all powers a parent having legal custody of a child would have.&#8221;</p>
<p>Additionally, the father of four has been given the &#8220;authority&#8221; to &#8220;manage&#8221; his brother&#8217;s &#8220;finances and assets,&#8221; travel alongside him nationally and internationally, and other privileges.</p>

<p>The court&#8217;s decision to give Thompson temporary guardian of the 17-year-old was reportedly granted due to &#8220;sufficient evidence&#8221; and &#8220;good cause.&#8221;</p>
