<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Debra L. Lee is currently in charge of the gworlz! Formerly chairman and CEO of</span><a href="https://www.blackenterprise.com/bet-co-founder-bob-johnson-goes-full-reparations-cut-black-america-a-14-trillion-check-or-expect-more-rebellions/"> <span style="font-weight: 400;">Black Entertainment Television</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> (BET), she has been appointed to the board of directors at the Procter &; Gamble Company (P&;G), a multinational consumer goods company that manufactures brands like Always, Bounty, Charmin, Crest, Dawn, Febreze,</span><a href="https://www.blackenterprise.com/gillette-best-men-ad-misses-so-badly/"> <span style="font-weight: 400;">Gillette</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, Tide, and Vicks, <a href="https://www.blackenterprise.com/debra-lee-former-ceo-of-bet-networks-appointed-to-board-of-procter-gamble/">according to Black Enterprise</a>.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“We are delighted to welcome Debra to the board,” P&;G Chairman, President, and CEO David Taylor said in a statement.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Throughout the 30 years she worked at<a href="https://dev.theshaderoom.com/?s=bet+networks&;post_type=post"> BET</a>, Debra served in several capacities, including executive vice president.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“She has distinguished herself as a leader in the media industry for more than 30 years and brings broad, deep knowledge ranging from media strategy and programming to corporate risk oversight,” Taylor&#8217;s statement read. “Her experience, expertise, and guidance will further strengthen our efforts to better serve consumers and a broad range of stakeholders.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Debra Lee made sure that women empowerment was represented at the network. With events like &#8216;Black Girls Rock!&#8217; and creating &#8216;Leading Women Defined Inc&#8217;, it is obvious that representation and giving back to the community was a clear focus for her.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">BET also created original programming such as The New Edition Story and Being Mary Jane. The network even bought rights to CW’s The Game.</span></p>
