#TSRPositiveImages: 8-Year-Old Boy Labeled A Hero For Helping His Sister Escape During A Carjacking

#TSRPositiveImages: An 8-year-old Ohio boy is being celebrated for his bravery for saving his 10-year-old sister and himself during a carjacking.

#ChanceBlue and his sister Skylar were in the backseat of their great grandmother Nita Coburn’s car at a hospital when a man hopped in the driver’s seat and took off with them. Their great grandmother stepped away briefly to help another woman into the ER, police told @abcnews.

“He kept saying, ‘Get out, get out,'” Chance said. That’s when Chance opened the door to escape with Skylar, who was about to jump out when the carjacker, identified as 34-year-old Dalvir Singh, grabbed her by the hoodie, police said.

Chance took action and pulled Skylar away from Singh, and they both tumbled out of the moving car.

“This little guy is a hero. No question. He pulled his sister out of the car with no concern for his own safety,” Middletown Police Chief Rodney Muterspaw said. “That is incredible at his age.”

Their great grandmother did not realize that her babies had escaped on the passenger side of the car.

“I heard them screaming and I ran to the car,” Coburn said.

She said chased the car, opening the driver’s side door to regain control of the car.

Singh slammed the door shut again and locked it while Coburn hung onto the car, thinking the children were still inside.

The car dragged Coburn until Singh sped up, forcing her to let go of the car.

Officers Kirby and Engleka — identified only by their last names — saw Coburn’s car speeding away and were able to get him.

The two officers stopped and arrested Singh. He has been charged with two counts of kidnapping, felony assault and grand theft.

Thankfully, the children, nor their great grandmother were seriously hurt in the whole ordeal.
