#TSRPositiveImages: AKA & DST Judges Come Together To Help Pull Our Kids Out Of The Prison Pipeline

Four powerful women from Alpha Kappa Alpha and Delta Sigma Theta sororities have joined forces to do something remarkable! All four women work as criminal judges and they created a program called Pipeline to Possibilities, which is committed to creating an alternative to the school-to-prison pipeline.

Based out of Dallas, Judges Amber Givens-Davis, Stephanie Mitchell, Lisa Green and Shequitta Kelly started the group to educate the younger generation on various aspects of the justice system and to inspire them to become leaders in society. Along with providing criminal justice classes, the program offers clear guidance about the consequences of irresponsible behavior.

“It’s a way to encourage them to be great and to understand what mistakes to avoid,” Judge Green said. “To understand how the system works so they are redirected and they don’t end up in criminal justice system.”

Judge Kelly said she’s inspired every day by the ability to help so many people. “My advice in life overall would be to not give up. You’ll have situations where you feel like you failed or made a bad decision, but you don’t stay in that,” she said. “You pick yourself up and you strive to be better.”

According to Judge Mitchell, “Where you start doesn’t have to be where you finish!” Amen to that!
