#TSRPositiveImages: Community Members Surprised Jemel Roberson’s Family With Gifts And A Visit From Santa

Losing a family member is always hard, especially when it happens right before the holidays. Thankfully, the community the family of #JemelRoberson, the 26-year-old #Chicago security guard who was mistakenly fatally shot last month by a police officer responding to a bar shooting, belongs to pitched in to make things a little easier this #Christmas.

Jemels pregnant girlfriend and infant son Tristan were surprised by #SantaClaus at their #Englewood home with gifts earlier this week, according to @wgnnews. Im shocked, surprised and thankful, said #AvonteaBoose of the special gift. “The first Christmas without Jemel, its just crazy…Its sad because Tristan wont see his dad for his first Christmas.”

Local towing company W&W Towing provided a ride for Santa and helped buy gifts for the family. “For these kids to lose their father because of a senseless tragedy, it saddened my heart,” said Early Walker of W&W Towing. “It was just a blessing to be in position to come out here, and you know, just give from the bottom of my heart.”

Boose is due with their second child in June.

Just to refresh you on Jemels story, he was doing his job as security for a bar by subduing a gunman when a Midlothian officer arrived on the scene and fatally shot him. The officer remains on paid administrative leave while Illinois State Police continue their investigation into the shooting.

Federal civil lawsuits have now been filed against Midlothian on behalf of Robersons children.

As we previously reported, Kanye West donated $150,000 back in November to support Jemels family during this difficult time. Many others touched by his story donated to the familys GoFundMe account.

As the investigation continues, as well as the progress on the lawsuits, well be sure to keep you updated on this story, #Roommates!
